Working meetings continue

On 4 March, 2021 within the project “Cross-border dialogue and Multi-Use planning in the Pasvik and Grense Jakobselv catchments” (КО 1110, MUP) took place an on-line meeting between the representatives of Dvina-Pechora Water Management Authority of Federal Water Resources Agency (Russia) and the Department of Water Resources and Energy (Norway). Also, representatives of the County Governor of Troms and Finnmark and Pasvik State Nature Reserve were present. The meeting was focused on the development of Russian-Norwegian cooperation in Grense Jakobselv catchments, specifically on the state of erosion control barriers.

During the meeting the participating parties discussed the possibility of organizing a visit to the region of Grense Jakobselv in 2021, making an inspection of existing bank protection constructions, which prevent landslides. The trip is planned for late summer, but the exact date will be fixed later. The parties have expressed their mutual wish to cooperate within this issue.

Also, the Russian side asked the Norwegian side to provide latest information concerning reconstruction of Glukhaya Dam and Skogfoss Dam, bordering Pasvik State Nature Reserve. To discuss this issue another meeting is planned.
